Our year 1 class is called Maple. We aim to capture children’s natural curiosity, exploring subjects through carefully chosen curriculum topics which allow children to follow their interests. We have a strong focus on teamwork and interactive learning, where children are encouraged to work together and share ideas to learn from one another. We are also on a journey to independence, where children are gradually supported develop these skills and take ownership of their learning.
Reading is an important skill that needs to be supported at home. We encourage you to be listening to your child read at least fives times per week. Please write in the reading record book noting the date, the page they read to and any comment you wish to make. Children are also encouraged to practise tricky words and phonics sounds at home to support learning of these.
If you have any spare time during school hours and would like to come in to our class to help us with reading or other school work, we would love to hear from you! Speak to the class teacher to find how you can help!
