Welcome to Rowan class
Rowan Class is for Year 3 and 4 pupils. We are inquisitive, great fun and love our learning. We have a new topic every term that makes our learning engaging and exciting right across the Curriculum. Whether we are writing detailed descriptions about our own imaginary dragon or busy breaking into a Pharaoh's tomb in Ancient Egypt, will always be trying our hardest and challenging ourselves but having great fun at the same time. Feel free to pop by anytime and see all the great work we are doing!Reading
Reading is an important skill that needs to be supported at home. We encourage you to be listening to your child read at least fives times per week. Please write in the reading record book noting the date, the page they read to and any comment you wish to make.
Homework will be sent home every Friday with the children. Please feel free to support your child with their home learning in any way you can. If you have any questions on learning strategies or techniques, feel free to discuss with the class teacher. Weekly home work should be handed in every Thursday. We also like to challenge the children with their own holiday research project. This will be based in the upcoming termly topic and will be given to the children in the last week of each term.
Children will be provided with weekly spellings every Friday. These spellings are based on the National Curriculum spelling lists and rules for Year 3 & 4. Whilst support and teaching on these focus words is given to the children in school, we would definitely encourage support and practice of these spellings at home as well. We have a spelling test every Friday morning.
We will be having two hours of PE every week in Rowan Class. These are timetabled for Tuesday and Thursday afternoons dependent on weather. Please make sure you child has a complete PE kit in school.
If you have any spare time during school hours and would like to come in to our class to help us with reading or other school work, we would love to hear from you! Speak to the class teacher to find how you can help!
